The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, locally known as Sri Dalada Maligawa, is one of the most significant and revered Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. The centerpiece of the temple is the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, housed in a golden casket. While the relic itself is not visible to the public, the casket is displayed within the inner chamber, known as the Vadahitina Maligawa.The temple`s architecture is a beautiful example of traditional Kandyan design, featuring intricate carvings, frescoes, and decorative elements. If you visit in July or August, don`t miss the Esala Perahera, a grand 10-day festival celebrated with elaborate processions.
